Looking out for older people and people with disabilities


Twenty-three new Community Registers and seven enhanced Registers are being funded as part of the Victorian Government’s $1 million Community Registers initiative to help vulnerable older people and people with disabilities.

Melbourne hosts international conference on ageing


The Linked page opens in a new window International Federation on Ageing 10th Global Conference on Ageing hosted by Council on the Ageing, Victoria (COTA, Vic) will take place at the Melbourne Convention Centre 3 - 6 May 2010. The Conference will provide a reliable platform for a global information exchange and point of connection for all, working to generate positive social change for older people. The program themes are Climate Change, Social Inclusion, Human Rights, Resourcing Change, and Healthy Ageing. Registrations are now open.

Whorouly senior wins Premier’s Award


74-year old Whorouly resident, Elizabeth Walpole was announced as the winner of the Premier’s Award for Senior of the Year at a special ceremony at Government House on Friday 2 October.

The 2009-2011 Retail & Services Directory details discounts and offers currently available to Seniors Card holders from more than 2,500 business outlets. Seniors Card holders are also entitled to free travel vouchers and concession prices on metropolitan public transport across Australia. Seniors Rights Victoria: promoting the safety of older Victorians


Seniors Rights Victoria (SIV) is an education and legal service to help prevent and respond to incidents of abuse, mistreatment or neglect of older people.
