Seniors statistics
The Census of Population and Housing and Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) demographic data provides benchmark information on population numbers, distribution and characteristics. Other ABS datasets contain information on ageing and issues such as health, disability and carers, the labour force, and economic wellbeing (income, housing and wealth).
The ABS has set up a specialised unit called the National Ageing Statistics Unit to provide statistical focus on the social and economic implications of the ageing population, and statistical support for policy issues related to ageing.
