Seniors Festival 2008
Now in its 26th year, the 208 Victorian Seniors Festival runs from October 5 to 12 and includes more than 1000 free and low-cost events across Victoria.
This year the Aveo Live Well Festival Hub in the Lower Melbourne Town Hall is open daily from 10am to 4.30pm for festival visitors to relax with a free tea or coffee, enjoy eclectic and interesting entertainment and find out new ideas about living well.
The Town Hall Concert series will include performances presented by the Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria, organist Gordon Stewart and the Royal Melbourne Philharmonic Choir and Orchestra and Orchestra Victoria.
Other highlights of the festival include the 2008 Seniors Film Festival at ACMI, Chapel Off Chapel Seniors Festival Theatre Week, Country Concert Series, a range of active living activities, organised tours and sight-seeing, and educational programs.
All Victorian Seniors Card holders will travel free on the metropolitan public transport network and regional bus services from October 5 to 12.
Seniors in country Victoria can take advantage of free travel on V/Line rail and coach services on October 7, 8, 9, 11 and 12.
